ITA IS Steering Committee
Position descriptions
Both the current elected officers and appointed officers are required to attend the Steering Committee meeting held at the beginning of the annual TESOL convention (BEFORE the annual IS business meeting), while the newly elected and appointed officers are requested to attend the IS Steering Committee Planning meeting held at the end of the convention (AFTER the annual IS business meeting).
Elected Positions
Chair-Elect/Chair/Immediate Past Chair
(3 year commitment as Chair-Elect, Chair, and Immediate Past Chair)
Chair-Elect
Plans the IS Academic session for the next convention.
Assists the Chair, training to function as Chair the following year.
Chair:
Oversees adjudication and submission of convention proposals for the ITA-IS
Acts as liaison between TESOL Central Office and ITA-IS members
Conducts the annual business meeting of the ITA-IS
Submits the ITA-IS annual report to the TESOL Central Office
Immediate Past Chair:
Chairs the nominating committee to identify next year's ITA-IS leaders
Assists the Chair as needed
Secretary:
(1 year commitment)
Receives the minutes from outgoing secretary and reads them at the annual IS Business Meeting
Takes minutes at the IS Business Meeting, submits to the Chair for inclusion in the Annual Report, as well as to the incoming Secretary
Assists Chair as needed
Members At Large (2):
(1 year commitment)
Co-organizers of IS Intersection (collaborative session involving two or more Interest Sections)
Assist Chair and other leaders as needed
Help at Convention
Appointed Positions
Editor-Elect:
(2 year commitment)
Attend Editor workshop at annual convention
Assist current Editor in production of the ITA-IS newsletter, 2 issues a year
Assume Editor's role the next year
Editor:
Assume primary responsibility for producing IS newsletter, 2 issues a year
Work on website, as needed
Co-Historians:
Supervise the maintenance of the ITA-IS permanent records and archives
Arrange for the appropriate display of ITA-IS records and archives at the annual TESOL Convention
Maintain the ITA-IS Governing Rules, keeping them current
Work with Webmaster on website
Assist Chair and leaders, as needed
Discussion list (e-list) Manager:
Authorize new members to join the ITA-list
Monitor/screen the messages posted to the list
Web Content Manager (Website):
Responsible for coding, maintaining links, keeping information on website current
Collect and post resources such as convention materials, teaching and technology links, photos
PCI Chair:
(inactive position)
Would organize and submit proposal for ITA-IS PCI (pre- or post-Convention Institutes) to TESOL CO
